"Want to continue our good run"

We spoke to Nico Elvedi about Sunday’s clash with VfL Wolfsburg, the team’s targets before the winter break and his versatility in the defence.

Nico, what was the atmosphere like within the team after the victory over Bayern?

Elvedi:Really good. Especially right after the game. The day after was obviously nice as well. The focus now though is on Wolfsburg. It was great to win against Bayern but it is important for us to build on this and concentrate on the next game.

What kind of a game are you expecting on Sunday?

Elvedi:It will definitely be a tough game. Wolfsburg lost for the first time in a while this weekend and will want to bounce back. We’ve been in top form away from home recently though, winning the last three in the league and four including the cup. We want to build on this run of victories. If we play like we did against Bayern, I’m sure we can take something from the game.

There are four games left before the winter break. Have you set yourself a target as a team?

Elvedi:We don’t have a concrete aim; we’re taking it one game at a time and want to win every game. We’ve put ourselves in a good position in the league. We’ll see where we are come the winter break. After that, there will be the second half of the season, with plenty points up for grabs.

In the last few games you’ve been used as a centre back and a right back. Sometimes you’ve even played in both positions in one game. How easy do you find it to change position and do you have a preference between the two?

Elvedi: No, I don’t have a preference. It doesn’t matter to me whether I play right back or centre back. I can play both and will try to give my all wherever the manager puts me. Changing halfway through a game obviously requires a change of mindset, which can take a bit of time, but it’s not a problem.
